Instructor, Student Pilot Identified in Deadly Crash...

I just received a phone call from an old classmate of mine from Pan Am International Flight Academy in Phoenix and gave me the grave news concerning a dear friend of mine, Onder "Andrea" M. Benner. She was killed yesterday (Thursday) when her plane she was flying crashed in rual NW Phoenix. It appears she was teaching spins with a student and lost control of the aircraft. I remember doing my spin training in that very plane. It will be days before we know the actual cause of the crash. It truly breaks my heart. She was a dear friend. It's weird to think that we just spoke a week ago about our jobs, our career objectives, and our family and friends. She was a great joy to be around and I will miss her greatly.

Why is it so hard to believe that I could ACT STRAIGHT?!?Well that was the offer this morning when the producers for the Dallas based TV show "Cheaters" stopped in. They inquired to see if we had a plane and a pilot that could fly to Padre Island to shoot a segment for a promotional spot. The pilot, me, would be responsible for taking the girl out and about. The crew of Cheaters would follow us and take video of us. We would then fly home the following day and be BUSTED by the girls 'boyfriend.' Well, the loving friends that I have had the following to say about all of this: You guys are going to crap your pants! Well, maybe not. This morning, the producer for the show "Cheaters" came in to inquire if we had an aircraft they could rent for a weekend. They want to take a girl, a camera guy, and a pilot, eheem, ME!~ to Padre Island to shoot a promotional segment for their show. Isn't that crazy?! Me acting 'straigh?' Well, the fun friends that I have had the following to say: Adam: Well that sucks that they can't use you. That would be good hours and money.. Captain Cox: Why can't they use me?? It's not for real, it's all staged evidently. Kelly: wait wait... does that mean you'd have to butch it up? Nnobody would fall for that! :) Adam: Cause you would really need to act straight!! Last night's American Idol was nothing but sabotage, and let me tell you why! I had my suspicions for several weeks that Fox was trying to manipulate the vote initially for a male contestant to win. My suspicions were confirmed officially last night! Okay, maybe no 'officially,' but in my mind, it was clear! Not only do the judges, primarily Randy and Paula, make it so obvious, but even the network coverage of the show is equally disturbing. I know, I know, this is just American Idol, however, American Idol represents so much more! This is bigger than the Presidential Elections in this country, which is whacked! It goes back to the philosophy that Americans need to be told what to do. Not only do I believe that the judges slant their opinions to favor the male contestant over the female, but even the producers engineering a 'singles' for release by each of the two finalist were presented on different playing fields. The singles that were performed as the last song for each contestant last night were in completely different leagues! We replayed the last two songs over and over and McPhee's song did grow on me, but it was disgusting that FOX would produce a song for her that was plain ol' shit! I feel that the person responsible for creating those songs did a horrible job and should be fired! Send them over to Trump!! To top all this off, we watched the 9 PM news on Fox here in Dallas and the continuing coverage of the events from the Kodak in L.A. Our local Fox affiliate sent a weathergirl from the morning show to report on the Idol events! A WEATHERGIRL!!! What the fuck does she know?!? At best she could comment on the hot air coming from Randy and Paula?! It is just fucking stupid, STUPID I tell ya! It was funny because she was reporting on how her favorite was Taylor and how wonderful he did and how clear it was that McPhee, obviously my favorite, didn't stand a chance! Well, to my great enjoyment, McPhee walked up behind her to be interviewed. It was great television! Well, with all the negative coverage of one finalist over the other, I was pissed! Reporters aren't supposed to report on their opinion; they are supposed to report on factual events. I don't give two shits what Maria Sotolongo has to say about all of this, I truly do not! Well, the story gets even better. This morning I wake up to see if my calls to the Fox "Hot Pigs" line were used on the morning broadcast. "Hot Pigs" is a line that you can call to voice you opinions on the coverage, anchors, reporters, etc. I let them have it last night! Anyway, clearly they didn't take my advice because they had Ms. Sotolongo on the air with our Fox's token 'Homo' giving us his opinion! Not only did he say she sucked, he professed that she needed to stop wearing clothes that showed her not so small belly! What the hell did this have to do with American Idol?! It was evil, it was cruel, and he should be fired! They always seem to find the queeniest, flamin' homosexual to give advice and opinion on their news casts! What gives?! Get someone with a little class for god's sake! It was an all around McPhee slam fest. I really am sick of hearing reporters, mainly Ms. Sotolongo and her fag telling me who they are voting for and who I should vote for! Fuck you lady--and your Homo too! What the hell does a weather lady know about talent?! She's a weather lady! Give me a break. FOX 4, YOU NEED TO WAKE UP! Your coverage last night and this morning SUCKED! Sorry for being so abrupt, but it's true, it sucked! Never have I been so disappointed in coverage of an event like this. I hope you don't use those same tactics for the next Presidential Election; we may have to rename you CNN!

It's interesting that with the soon release of Al Gore's movie on Global Warming, he bores people to tears with his film warning of the effects of our actions on our environment. He has gone to great lengths to express his grave concerns related to this subject. I would even say that he's using the same "scare tactics" that he accused the Bush Administration of using in 2004 to win the election. I watched a film last week at a theater in Dallas know for it's artsy-fartsy liberal films. I wasn't shocked when I saw a display set up for "An Inconvenient Truth." I was pretty amused by it actually. On the display, a full box of papers with information on how YOU can do something to help stop global warming was presented. Here are the 10 genius way that YOU can do your part to stop global warming: 1. Change a light: Replacing one regular bulb with a compact fluorescent light bulb will save 150 pounds of carbon dioxide a year. 2. Drive Less: You'll save one pound of carbon dioxide for every mile you don't drive! 3. Recycle More: You can save 2,400 pounds of carbon dioxide per year by recycling just half of your household waste. 4. Check Your Tires: Properly inflated tires can improve gas mileage by more than 3%. Every gallon of gasoline saved keeps 20 pounds of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere! 5. Use Less Hot Water: Install a low flow showerhead (350 pounds of CO2 saved per year). Wash clothes in cold or warm water (500 pounds of CO2 saved per year). 6. Avoid Products with a Lot of Packaging: You can save 1,200 pounds of CO2 if you cut down your garbage by 10%. 7. Adjust your Thermostat: Moving your thermostat down just 2 degrees in the winter and up 2 degress in the summer could save about 2,000 pounds of CO2 a year. 8. Plant a Tree: A single tree will absorb one ton of carbon dioxide over its lifetime. 9. Be a part of the Solution: Learn more and get active at ClimateCrisis.net 10. Spread the word! It's crazy that there are really only 8 things they say to do; the last two items are fluff bullshit. Also, there are no sources listed to show any resources used to create this document. Also, Mr. Bore, I mean Gore attended the Cannes Film Festival. It was for sure a fun time for Mr. Gore and his friends: "BURN: Gore & entourage took 5 cars to travel the 500 yards from hotel to screening of global warming pic in Cannes... " Maybe Mr. Gore should pick up a copy of his "tenthingstodo," and read number 2, 4, 9, and 10--especially 9 and 10. Clearly he wasn't being a part of the solution by driving, and he wasn't spreading the word as he and his friends needed to drive 5 cars 500 yards. Today human rights groups are "raising awareness over a new law passed by the Iranian parliament that would require the country's Jews and Christians to wear colored badges to identify them and other religious minorities as non-Muslims." Iranian expatriates living in Canada yesterday confirmed reports that the Iranian parliament passed a law this week setting a dress code for all Iranians. Iran's 25,000 Jews would have to sew a yellow strip of cloth on the front of their clothes. Christians would wear red badges and Zoroastrians would be forced to wear blue cloth. The great concern here is that unless there is a great international outcry, this new law will easily pass. This new measure is being classified as "state-sponsored religious discrimination." The law would allow Muslims to identify non-Muslims and in response, all the Muslims to avoid all non-Muslims. It's time to wake up people! How long are we going to allow this crazy-assed tyrant to hold power in Iran?! Oh, wait, I forgot, we don't believe in pre-emptive action, we've got to wait until someone slaps us before we slap back! What the fuck ever. We need to stop pussy-peddling the issue of Iran and wipe that bitch off the face of the planet. While reading this, an old saying popped into my brain, "It's God's duty to judge, it's our duty to arrange the meeting." I think this saying should be applied to this situation. We are so concerned now with handling all issue in a 'let's all hold hands and sing together' manner rather than taking a stand for human rights and liberties! This asshole thinks he's the shit. He needs a fucking reality check in the form of an gift from the US Military! We need to keep our nose out of other countries business until civil liberties become involved. When the little person can't take up for themselves, we need to step in and put a stop idiot assholes like this one; especially when it's clear that history could repeat itself again!

My dichotomous views on this matter basically relate to the fact that I'm concerned that if there is no truth to this, why is the Catholic Church so disconcerted? Does the truth not always surface sooner or later? Where is the strong foundation of 'faith?' If faith were the true foundation of the beliefs of the Catholic church, what's do worry about? Will the faith of the followers not carry them through the supposed false accusations? What if the purported statements made in this film held some truth? Should the followers of the Catholic faith not be made aware of the corruption that may have occurred? Personally, I feel that if my church had secrets of such magnitude that I would hope those truths would be exposed. All things considered, I fear that the church holds the thought that all of their media should be given proper access to the public but when something that goes against their core beliefs is presented, they feel they should have censoring power to control what is made available to the public. Rather than boycotting the film and setting up system of censorship, the church should rise up and create their own film sharing their story; God knows they have the funds and resources to create such a project. Whether the book and film is based on any facet of truth or not, who cares?! It’s a movie. We’ve got to use our brains to understand and realize that what is presented is a work of man. This is no different from any other film; book, television show--no difference here! It’s purpose may have been intended to do harm to the Catholic Church, however, the only harm that can be done is when idiots base their religious faith and beliefs on fictitious works such as this. If you are deeply rooted in your religion and you feel this film may pull you away from the truth, don’t go see it! However, on the flip side, if you are secure in the knowledge you hold on the things you believe and have faith in, this film looks to be a very entertaining film. Check this out!! Da Vinci Code board game!!! Can't wait to hear the reviews the Catholic Church give this! I'm sure this will be blacklisted as well.

Today at the office, pretending to be working, I was browsing the headlines looking for something that would trigger my political flame. Unfortunately, with Bush vowing to secure the borders, I decided I would lay off his ass until I heard what he had to say this evening. A headline that did catch my eye was a Democratic candidate for attorney general denying that the Holocaust occurred and said Friday he will speak this weekend to a "pro-white" organization that is widely viewed as being racist. Now I understand that racism is a HUGE issue in this country, and I'll get to that in a second. However, I must first address this Holocaust bullshit that this guy is purporting. Larry Darby confessed that his views are extreme, but states that these views will help him win "wide support" among Alabama voters. He believes it's his quest to "reawaken white racial awareness" in his campaign against Mobile county District Attorney John Tyson. What's interesting about Mr. Darby is that he believes that only 140,000 Jews died during WWII and that most of them died from Typhus. It's interesting to hear that because historians say about 6 million Jews were slaughtered by the Nazis, but Darby said the figure is a false claim of the "Holocaust industry." "I am what the propagandists call a Holocaust denier, but I do not deny mass deaths that included some Jews," Darby said. "There was no systematic extermination of Jews. There's no evidence of that at all." Now regardless of what you believe concerning the Holocaust and WWII, an interesting platform is being raised here: "White Racial Awareness." As a white gay male, I've always found it interesting that in searching for equality via the Civil Rights Movement and other like minded ethical and political movements in this country that we've become more racially divided. I believe that we've gone from one extreme in this country over the last 60 years to the other. We are so concerned with being 'politically correct,' that we've built up our own form of racial segregation and discriminatory practices. For example, why does it matter what color I am when I am filling out a job application or an application for college? Why is it so important to know if I'm White, Black, Indian, etc. when applying for scholarships? Why is it that in my high school, we had an organization title, "African American Society," that, until I forced my white ass in, never had a white person on its roster. Not only do we have "Gay Pride," we've also got a "Black Gay Pride" (here in Dallas anyway). I find it ridiculous in the day and age that we live that we have to hire so many of this color, so many of that color, etc. Why is it even like that? Why can't a man or woman be judged on their own personal merits; who's the better person for the job because of their resume, and not the color of their skin? What if I were to start a "White Gay Pride Dallas," what then, can you imagine that shit I'd get for that? What if we developed a new pageant and title it "Miss. White America," to balance out the equation with "Miss. Black USA?" Where is this train heading? We've become so concerned about being 'fair' for all rather than doing the responsible thing by grading, awarding, judging on achievement and skill. How do we completely resolve racism? We completely white out, okay, that was wrong--and a joke, but we completely remove color from every form, document, title, etc. that has a color listed. It's doesn't matter if you white, black, orange or green, I want to be graded and promoted and hired and all of that good shit because of the good, hard work I do, not because of the color of my skin. Anywho, I feel better getting THAT off my chest! I know this really didn't have anything to do with the aforementioned, and I probably wouldn't support his views (being a democrat and all), but it really makes me think that he's probably going to catch hell for his 'white' comments and be classified as a racist even if his points are valid.

Hey bitches. I have finally finished cleaning up this place I call home here in beautiful Dallas, Texas! As you all know, I kicked off the weekend with a "NO CINCO IN MY DE MAYO," where I stood up to the Communist country that we're so blessed to share the border with, Mexico. That's right, no Margaritaville for the Cox Friday, I had sushi. Enough about that, on to more exciting things. Saturday, I had the pleasure, and it was an absolute pleasure indeed, to have dinner with the famous Adam of the Crab Cast, uh, grrr, I mean Kreb Cycle. He was a really cool guy, and his partner, Brad, was awesome as well. I told the gurls, we definitely needed to hang again very soon! I was able to make up for not having margaritas on Friday by having dinner at Gloria's. Their margaritas are good, but the food is just blah. It was the company that made our evening, not the location. Now, to today's headline, "A Visit From the Angel of Death." Armando and I decided to get a pet to be company for Lucy, my sweet, sweet, bitchin' baby doggie. After much thought and consideration, we decided on trying our hand with a Beta Fish. I must digress, I've had betas before. In fact, I've probably had 3 or 4 over my beautiful 24 years of living. However, my luck turned south of the border we A and I attempted to move one in. We purchased a large, beautiful bowl from the Pottery Barn, it was on sale (Honey, I dont' buy at full price, o~kay?!). Along with the bowl, we purchased white rocks. The whole setup was heavenly. We'll we purchased our first fish on Wednesday. I came home and set up the bowl, water, rocks, etc. I DID use the recommended water treatment solution that I purchased from the pet store, however, we had issues:

Hittin' it Hard in BIG 'D!'

For those of you unable to link the fact that I am a pilot, Captain Cox--I don't know whatwould give it away, let me tell you that I am. I attended flight school at a good school, gaining publicity after the 9/11 attacks in part to a couple of the terrorist training at my academy. After I completed flight training, I took a "Second-in-Command" position with Alpine Aviation based in Provo, UT. That's right, with all the Morons, I mean Mormons; just kidding, I love the Mormons and Chick-fil-A. MOVING ON. After some troubling times with Alpine, in part to Delta leaving DFW--I digress, that's important because I was based in DFW flying to bum-fucked-Texas--I took a real job in the field of my original degree, Mortuary Science and Funeral Home Management; oh the stories I could tell. I worked a few months for a corporate owned firm in the Dallas area. That all ended in a big gay bashing event of yours truly. Picking myself up and moving on, I took a job in Retail Advertising with an ever so infamous, and a little bit trashy, weekly news, if you can even call it that, publication. After 6 months of banging down the doors of local business owners, I decided that sales within the advertising industry would not be a good fit for me--oh, and along with the fact that I had to sit at my desk and see the planes on the flight path to Dallas Love Field daily, really struck up the desire to take to the air again. I stumbled upon a locally own operation in Addison. There I did, and continue to do many things from flying, to a little media design for some advertising and a few odd jobs here and there. Well, after about 3 months, the company started having issues paying their bills, including my paychecks. To keep my ass afloat, I took a position as records manager for a busy medical group in Plano, all the while flying part time out of Addison. Quickly moving forward, I attempted to offer aerial tours with the company I was flying with in Addison. However, the owner of the company is good friends with a guy who owns and operates another aerial tour company. The catch is, the other aerial tour company uses our planes to fly his flights. Well, my owner agreed with this other creep that it was a conflict of interest for our company to be offering aerial tours while he, the friend of the owner of my company, offered the exact same thing. Okay, I'm sure by this point you're lost and confused, but here is the point, finally. We shut down our aerial tours and I decided to venture out on my own offering aerial tours and such to the Dallas market, more specifically, the GLBT community. At that point, Dallas Aerial Ventures was created. Since it's creation in December of 2005, I've received great support from several movers and shakers in the GLBT community here in Dallas. A couple of the key players are pilots themselves. They've hooked me with great opportunities and I've had a really great response thanks to the efforts of these individuals. Well, today, Friday, the Dallas Voice comes out. Actually it comes out every week and the day it hits the stands is Friday. One of the individuals that's been so kind and gracious happens to hold a high position with the Dallas Voice. He's been very gracious in offering me ad space in the paper from time to time. He also went way above by adding a link to my site on the front page of The Dallas Voice web site. I'm just tickled silly over this and wanted to share my excitement with all of you. This evening, Armando and I went to see United 93. The movie, for the most part was well executed. I believe the film documented quite the struggle between good and evil, the un-preparedness of the United States, and insight into the peaceful theology of the Muslim world.After viewing this film, my initial emotional reaction was that of anger. Sure, I felt sorrow and pride for those who stood up to defend against these extremist. Pride in the fact that they didn't give up. That the Americans fought to the end. However, the anger has been rekindled deep within my soul. Not only do I feel anger towards those men who plotted and carried out those acts, but anger to the ignorance of the American people, that even today have no clue how those of the Muslim/Islamic world truly believe. What was portrayed before our eyes on 9.11 is the truth. These people do not value life and will stop at nothing to achieve that end for those who do not follow their faith. Islamo-fascists need to be sought out and destroyed before they can destroy us. These people HATE US and our way of life. They desire to seek us out and destroy us. The anger I have towards Americans today is that they live in the ignorance of our lifestyle and the convenience and comforts of our country. By that I mean that they appear to have a jaded perspective of the enemy. We are more concerned today that we will offend a group or person, while these creeps are sneaking into our country, and plotting to attack us. You will hear all the time from tree-hugging hippies that war is not the answer, that we must use diplomatic means to reason with these people. What they do not understand is that these Islamo-fascists do not give two shits about laws, talks, the United Nations or any other national or international entity. These groups live by the sward and will die by the sward, or maybe the bomb packs they have wrapped around their bodies. We cannot reason with these folks and we cannot invite them over to tea and cookies and expect to just get along with them. They don't give a shit. We've got to remain vigilant and active in protecting ourselves. We must not sit around in our comfort zone and wait to see what will happen. If that means our government is listening to certain phone calls to or from certain parts of the world, so be it! What the fuck do you or I have to hide?! If it means taking evil dictators out of power who gas their own people, suppress civil freedoms, and disobey international law, SO BE IT! We've got to leave the ideological thinking that everyone can be friends and hold hands and sing Kumbaya together--It's not going to happen people!! Sure, it would be so nice if that were the case, but when the enemy does not play any civil rule, I'm sorry honey, it's time to throw our fucking rule book out the window and saddle up our fighter jet light those mother-fuckers up like Christmas at the North Pole! We live in the most wonderful nation on God's green Earth. Why must be so concerned with what France or Germany's public opinion of us is? I recall having to save their asses a time or two in past history! It seems now we have to be so guarded with how we conduct the affairs in this country to not offend, to ensure that our comforts and rights remain the same, etc. I'm sorry folks, it cannot be like this! We are living in a different time and a different place. We are dealing with a completely different enemy than ever before. We may have to give a little here and there, but if giving a little here and there saves my ass from being terminated by the wonderful, peace-abiding religion of Islam, so be it! I think we need to remember who we are up against, and remember who we are! We aren't pussy and wimps, no, we're fucking Americans, and I refuse to sit by why crazy-fucktards try and pussy-whip this country right down the shitter! Take a look at these photos. This is something to get angry about, not who fucking won or lost an election, but who is stealing our liberties that God gave us--not as Americans, but as humans! ...there is some good news to report! The Age is reporting today that "US Economy Firing on All Cylinders." Sure, you may think, big deal!? However, with all the screw-ups and mistakes of this current Administration, should we not take time to point out some of the positive improvements to our nation? I think so!

Dow Passes 11,500, Hits Fresh 6-Year High... Less Than 185 Pts. From All-Time High... Chart...

Not only has Treasury debt prices fallen, the dollar is stiffening up against the euro. The big achievers have been those companies that make up the service sector. The service sector roughly makes up for about 80% of the US economic activity. Such businesses include airlines, banks, hair solons, hotels, and restaurants. As reported by The Age, and estimated 178,000 private jobs were added during the month of April. It also stated that 22,000 government jobs were added as well. The overall total payroll increase equaled 200,000.

All of these improvements are due in part to Americans getting to keep more of their own money. Americans are the driving force in this county. In the first quarter alone, our economy grew at a rate of 4.8%. Our economy is growing the fastest of any major industrialized nation. We have added jobs consistently for the last 31 months in a row--a total of 5.1 mill new jobs under the direction of President Bush. As well as excellent job creation, our unemployment rate has fallen to 4.7 percent. That is lower than the average for ANY decade since the 1950's. How is possible that the real after tax income has grown by nearly 9 % since President Bush took over responsibilities at the White House? The only explanation I can come up with is the President's horrible tax cuts. Okay, okay, breathe! Let me try to explain. As you all know, or may not know, taxes for every tax-paying citizen were reduced. We are talking about more than 100 MILLION PEOPLE. Altogether, the total summation of tax relief was around $880 billion to American workers and businesses; this money was, and is used to fuel and drive our economy along. It's simple, Americans keeping more of their money, thanks to tax relief, have more money left in their purses to spend! Of course, the downside is extreme spending, and by spending, I'm talking about government spending. This is in my thought where I must pause, slap the behinds of those elected officials who have done a poor job at restraining spending as well as their pork barreling funds and say WAKE UP! We, as Americans, need to watch and see what is going on with spending in this country. This is not a Republican or Democrat issue; it reaches both sides of the political aisle. One site I would recommend that you all take a look-see at this great little site: Citizens Against Government Waste. This site has a great system of documenting and informing about past and current government waste spending.

A 20-year-old was found by a Wal-Mart employee in the bathroom Sunday night after he sat down and was glued to the toilet seat.

The man, whose name was not released by police, was taken to the hospital late Sunday night, said Lt. Cheryl Rantz of the Salisbury Police Department.

"The man had gone into the bathroom and sat down," she said. "He was banging on the wall when the employee came in."

Rantz said the man was treated and released.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia

A 33-year-old man in northern Malaysia has married a 104-year-old woman, saying mutual respect and friendship had turned to love, a news report said Tuesday.

It was Muhamad Noor Che Musa's first marriage and his wife's 21st, according to The Star newspaper which cited a report in the Malay- language Harian Metro tabloid.

Muhamad, an ex-army serviceman said he found peace and a sense of belonging after meeting Wook Kundor, whom he said he initially sympathized with because she was childless, old and alone, the report said.

"I am not after her money, as she is poor," Muhamad reportedly said. "Before meeting Wook, I never stayed in one place for long."

He said he hoped to help his new bride to master Roman script while she taught him Islamic religious knowledge.

The report did not say if any of Wook's previous 20 husbands are still alive.

Malaysian Muslim men are allowed by their religion to take up to four wives at a time, but reports of women who marry more than once are rare. Muslim women do not practice polygamy.

And look at this, CNN and Fox News are both using a banner calling their coverage "A Day Without Immigrants," while MSNBC is titling its coverage "Immigrant Anger." Hell's bells, what is going on here? The issue isn't about immigrants, it's about illegal immigrants! Here's the deal. I have no issue with people coming to this country. Clearly, thousands of people are becoming legal citizens every year: "2,300,000 citizens who became naturalized U.S. Citizens between 2000 and 2003." What is the issue here? The issue is that all of the illegal immigrants are standing up for their rights. What FREAKIN' rights??? What part of illegal don't you people understand? What rights come with being illegal? Who knew that 'illegal' and 'rights' would ever be used in this manner, in the same sentence?! It's amazing that those wonderful, God-fearing people have come into this country, against the laws that are established in this country, and demand their rights, walk out of the jobs and schools, i.e., the better life they came to this country for, change our National Anthem to fit their desires, and expect us to turn a blind eye and just open our arms and accept them as good people, which many of them may be, regardless, it's a real shame and more wrong that Cooter Brown on a Pixi-Stix! I say, let's go to Mexico, lower their flag, raise our own and sing the Mexican National Anthem in English while parading through their streets waving Ol' Glory. I would like to see what kind of response we would get from our friends south of the border in that little scenario.

Our forefathers who founded this country came from many different countries. They all came here with diverse backgrounds and spoke many different languages. Once they arrived here, they all agreed to speak one common language, and that language was English! What the fuck is up with carrying signs through the streets of the United States in Spanish? It's a complete marketing no-no! I mean for fuck sake, the people who need to see the signs and hear the messages are those who speak and understand English. Who is the target audience in their messages? Great way of getting the message out!

This weekend was quite eventful in the metropolis of Lawton, Oklahoma! We headed to my parent's to help them move this weekend. For the most part, the weekend was very nice, even though manual labor was involved. We had dinner out in the Wichita Mountins, yes, Oklahoma has mountains, and they are beautiful at the right times during the day. Sunday morning, at my parent's house may seem a bit strange to some of you, but here it goes. Armando and I had been sleeping in the living room all weekend, which is a little funny, because Friday night, my parents put one cot in 'my' bedroom and a second on the other end of the house in the library. I told my mom that Armando and I would just sleep in the living room where we had access to the TV. Fast forward to Sunday morning, 6:30 AM. With the call of the 4 turkeys outside, and by turkey, I mean real turkeys! My dad comes strolling into the living, and turns on the TV. Of course, being Sunday morning, he turns to his favorite (I must add I enjoy the man on occasion as well) Televangelist Joel Osteen. I'm sleeping on the couch, Armando on the floor with the covers over his head, and little Lucy between my legs where she enjoys the warmth of my thighs . I'm like, "Welcome home--grrrrrrrrr." My parents are attending to their Sunday morning routine and Armando and I still sluggishly attending to ours, well, not truly ours, but a modified version. Going home, it's expected that I, and whoever is visiting with me, attends services Sunday morning. Of course, I do not mind this, as I enjoy seeing the folks that I grew up with and showing them how fagulous I've become. However, this was Armando's first time to my "home church," as we say. We arrived at Lawton First Assembly of God around 9:05, in time for the meet and greet at the coffee bar. Yes, it's true, they have a coffee cafe. The church has also moved to having two Sunday morning services, which is good--attendance is up (about 1700 people weekly). At 9:30 sharp, my grandfather began his teaching in his Sunday School class. Besides his thick Oklahoma accent and his famous comb-over hairdo, Armando was pretty comfortable in his class. Sunday school went until 10:30, at which point we moved our gay-asses to the main sanctuary for the second morning service. Of course, we Pentecostals go to church twice on Sunday, Bible study on Tuesday, service again on Wednesday, and usually to social activity on Friday and/or Saturday. I digress. Seated in our pew, 5 row from the back, we watched the announcements on the two large screens hanging above the choir and orchestra. At exactly 5 minutes prior to 10:45, the announcements changed to a time clock counting down the 5 minutes before the service was to begin. 2 minutes and counting, the orchestra began to play the service introduction and we prepared for worship. For those of you who do not know, the Assembly of God is a charismatic church, often times referred to as "Holy Rollers," and "Tongue Talkers," need I go on? Our services are usually very enjoyable, the music and all, and today was no different. Now, here's the point in the story where things get a little cloudy. Pastor Barnes is doing a series entitled, "Believe it or Not!" Here is the advertisement on this series:

Hear the message HERE! This week, the topic of conversation was "Heaven and Hell." I know where your brains are going with this, but actually, it was a pretty interesting sermon, until we got to the 4 point of Heaven. The point was, "Who will not be there." In pre-reading the sermon outline in my bulletin, I had a few preconceived ideas of my own on who would not be there. Of course, I know I am no judge of man, but my mind did wonder. Pastor Barnes started discussing this point and I thought, oh well, I'm sure he's just going to make generalized statements such as the obvious: "Sinners, Satan, George Bush (for you Bush haters out there ;-), etc." Boy was I wrong, that man actually said, and I quote, "Drunks, Prostitutes and Homosexuals!" Now, I will say this on his defense, he is preaching what he/they believe. HOWEVER, and I mean a big freakin' however, what about all the other 'sins/sinners' that were present in the church that day? How about the over-eaters, the liars, the gossipers, the thieves, the one who had a bad thought... I could go on, but I won't. My point to all of this is this, how is it that he can only call out 3 'sinners' or types of 'sin,' and leave out all the others. Did we learn in our Bible classes as children that all sin is equal and that no sin is greater than another? It's not like we have a tally of sin points next to our name? I my sin of being a homosexual (in his eyes) any different than any struggle, or sin that he has ever dealt with? Doesn't the Word of God also state that we are all sinners saved by Grace? Who's Grace you ask, NOT Pastor Barnes and the First Assembly of God Church in Lawton, Oklahoma!? Thank the Lord for that! Even if you are 'Born Again,' that doesn't mean you aren't going to fall or be sin free. It's God's Grace that bridges the gap from where we are to His domain. We will never live a spotless, sin-free life regardless of who we are (gay or straight). People in Biblical times were not necessarily condemned for being sodamites, but for the acts they were participating in. All in all, Lawton was a great time, and church was enjoyable for what it's worth. I think it's important that if the church is going to carry out the Great Commission, they are going to have to come up with a new approach to bringing in the lost. Standing from the pulpit and telling a particular group that they are going to Hell is just not a way to reach anyone, in fact, it does quite the opposite.

Turbulent Times for Liberal Media

Eh-hem... excuse, I mean "Progressive Media." This just in, 'Air America' in audience plunge NYC and 'Crashing the Gate,' a book hyped by mainstream media as documenting a progressive revolution of "blogs" and political power, stalls out with only 3,630 copies sold since its release last month, according to NIELSEN's BOOKSCAN. [NIELSEN claims only 2,062 copies of DAILY KOS have been purchased at the retail level; the rest coming through 'discount' outlets.] The just released radio Winter Book [Jan-Mar 2006] from Arbitron, shows Air America in New York City losing more than a third of its audience this past year! It was a race for last place for Air America and WLIB as mid-days went from 1.6 share during winter 2005 to a 1.0 share winter 2006. During the peek performance time of the PM drive, host Randi Rhodes sank to 27,000 listeners every quarter hour, finishing 25th place in her time slot, down from 60,900 oisteners every quarter hour in the fall of 2005. A network source says the radio ratings released to today do not reflect the overall growth of the broadcast--CLEARLY?! He states, "The demos are better," sure--whatever, "and listeners trust Air America to give them the real truth on issues and the Bush presidency." Is it any wonder why media sources from these particular view points are being rejected in America today? As a gay man, I look at these numbers and attempt to process what is being stated. What I come up with is that the presentation in which these sources protray information is either offensive to the majority of Americans, does not offer a reasonable solution to our issues--quite frankly, after browsing over Air America's site, I discovered nothing but slander and trashing the Right; no solutions, no suggestions, nothing positive to say, just trash talking Conservatives. We will not see change, well as far as gays are concerned, in our community until we change our approach to reach others, left or right leaning people, with a proactive, yet respectful approach to our issues. It's more than being a Democrat or Repbulican, it's about being human and treating our neighbors, how ever different they are from us, the way we apparently demand to be treated. The good, the bad and the ugly exsists on both sides of the political spectrum, however, let us not forget that we have more in common with each other in comparison to those ideas and issues that separate us. That's what I think about that! :-)

Weekend Chores Galore!

This past weekend, along with recording a podcast with Darin, we cleaned and set up our patio. Along with the new plants, we got a great 'patio' grill. Check out the photos of the great grill that comes highly recommended by me, the new plants, and the rest of the this weekends fun festivities. We also took a little flight over to Stephenville, Texas to have dinner at this little BBQ joint called "Hard 8." No, it's not gay owned or operated, even though that would be a great name for a family establishment. Here are the great pics from that event: A great end to the weekend, a hot bath with a hot boy!
